ok so much for gossiping about mum. Let's head out to the ferry terminal!
Here we are again at central pier but not taking this ferry. Took a faster hydrojet instead.
Thanks to the hydrojet, the ride was reduced to 45min. And then I realized why mum can tahan the long ferry ride last time. She went to snooze mode right after sitting down on the hydrojet. like GG.
After 45min of Loco Roco 2, I arrived at the Peng Chau Pier!
Welcome to Peng Chau!
Peng Chau (Chinese: 坪洲; pinyin: Píngzhōu; Jyutping: ping4 zau1) is a small island located off the north-eastern coast of Lantau Island. Administratively, it is part of the Islands District of Hong Kong. Area: 0.98 km².
Peng Chau is known for its small island lifestyle, accessibility to fresh seafood, and many temples located around the island (including a Tin Hau temple built in 1792). The tallest point of the island is Finger Hill, which is 95m in height and provides hiking opportunities for those who seek them. One of the rare
shop is Peng Chau food & wine shop. This shop is famous for selling french wine and food but also for its dazzling facade.
from wikipedia
Didn't see the wine shop though coz my mum was walking everywhere with no sense of direction / sequence. But it's ok to walk like that coz the island is too small to get lost. hahaha
Arrived at the entrance into the village...
We're already at one side of the island and the sign board is pointing to the other side of the island. hohoho. So many streets with 'wing'. Let's not say that the inspiration for my name came from this place. -_-''
As you can see, life there is really PEACEFUL. The uncle there is simply enjoying the sun and quietness of the alley (which is probably his coz there are so little people around.) Can't imagine that this is actually part of HK.
Along the sidewalk next to the North Shore.. Yet another scene of serenity. But it was slightly more busy over there because there was the wet market and post office. All in mini form.
Oh ya dustbin of 'goot' taste. think the HK govt did quite abit to 'renovate' the place. Everything there was semi-new and toilets were everywhere.
Mum decides to bring me up Finger Hill where it boasts of a 360 degrees sea view.
Along the way, more scenes of serenity and peace.
peace everywhere~~~

From a random website:
坪洲人生活在寧靜、純樸、簡單、空氣清新、悠閒的環境下,人與人之間和諧友善,還保留著濃厚社區合作精神。至今為止,坪洲是全港罪案率最低的地方了。
From half way up the hill
Fire brooms to put out forest fires. hmm interesting.
Mum and I turned back after seeing some cemeteries on the top of the Hill. Apparently we need to get pass the cemeteries in order to reach the top of the hill.
We asked the trash auntie for directions and headed for the shore near mum's old house.
The shore was like almost 200 degrees...
and the sky was enormously big as compared to skies in the city.

A quiet beach with no one to disturb.
Boats wading lazily on calm waters...
Oh! so distinct of village life near the sea.
与世无争的天地。
Activities that the villagers enjoy..
but they seem to be neglected during the cold winter season.
After much photowhoring, my mum finally found her old house!! She could still remember the tree which is standing next to it. Looks up to second floor. hmmm It must be a big house in the olden days.
dilapidated huts and their meagre additions.
Pets there are free to walk wherever they like and the amazing thing is they can understand whatever their master says. There was one poochie who wondered off to another direction and when the auntie shouted its name and called it to come back, the poochie ran back next to her in a matter of seconds. So cute laa~
Huge pets were found everywhere too.
But the question is: my mum hates animals. How was she able to survive in this pets wonderland?!!!
Mum was telling me that there used to be no cars around in the past. After she finished her sentence, the Mini Ambulance drove past! It's so small that it can drive through the alleys and walkways, SO CUTE la! But we had to 让位 for it to drive into the walkway. haha
We headed back to the pier after walking around for 2-3 hours.
People there cycled but I bet my mum prefered walking. -___-'''
Would be nice to stay for sunset. Can imagine my parents coming out for evening walks and welcoming the beautiful sunset along the shore in the past. like extremely romantic. GG.
Mini ferry for the locals?
meanwhile the tourists have to take the hydrojet back..
Another 45 min of loco roco 2, I arrived back in HK island.
It was indeed an eye opener. Little did I know about such peaceful and beautiful places away from the hustle and bustle within the concrete jungle. I had time, I would probably visit another off shore island again! HOHOHO~
